Australia Week - “Join Us for an Ausmazing Experience”

Together with the 3300 strong student population in the various Australian programmes on Sunway campus, the Victoria University (VU) tertiary programmes, Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT), and Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) collaborated in organizing the inaugural Australia Week, which took place from 1st to 5th September 2016 on Sunway campus, to celebrate Australian culture and values beyond the classroom.

We were honoured to have the Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia, HE Mr. Rod Smith PSM, and Chairman of School Curriculum and Standards Authority of Western Australia (SCSA), Professor Patrick Garnett, to grace the Opening Ceremony, in the presence of Deputy President EXCO Member Sunway Group of Companies, Puan Sri Datin Seri Dr Susan Cheah, Chief Executive Officer of Education and Healthcare Division of the Sunway Group, Dr Lee Weng Keng and other distinguished guests.

This year, for the very first time the staff and students have come together in running a series of events to showcase Australian culture on campus. The Australia Week featured several exciting events including “Sharity Carnival”, Australian Slang Competition, Library Exhibition of Australian Authors and Actors, “Ausmazing Race”, a mini Musical Concert, involving students from the various Australian based programmes, and finally an “Aussie-Rules Footie” match to wrap up the “Ausmazing” week. Victoria University was the main sponsor of prizes to the winners of the football match.
