Eight Sunway students top the world in MUFY subjects
At the graduation night in December last year, eight students of Sunway College Kuala Lumpur’s Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) achieved the highest score among all providers of MUFY worldwide in subjects covering Accounting, Advanced Mathematics, Biology, Economics, Fundamental Mathematics, Mathematics and Physics. They received a total of ten awards from Monash College, Australia.The recipients were Ashwinee Rvan Ravindran, Ooi Ken Ric, Tee Hsin Yee, Gavin Ong Jon Chen, Vederalage Mohaned Ishrath Ali Badurdeen, Chan Shang En, Elaine Yong Yun Ling and Hong Chin Choong. Two of them, Ooi Ken Ric and Tee Hsin Yee gleaned two subject awards each. These were based on the November 2012 examinations.

Sunway’s MUFY shines again
Shum Pey Ling, a student of the Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) at Sunway College made the institution proud when she bagged the Monash Excellence Award with an impressive average score of 98.75%. The Monash Excellence Award is presented to the student who achieves the highest overall score among all MUFY providers worldwide. This cohort of students also won 19 out of the 22 MUFY Subject Awards, for emerging top in their respective subjects among all providers of MUFY globally. On top of that, this year marked the largest number of MUFY students at Sunway College who qualified for a Monash Entrance Scholarship with 51 students obtaining an average score of 91.25% and above. According to Lee Thye Cheong, Director of MUFY at Sunway College, these are the best results ever achieved since Sunway College began offering MUFY in 1999.

A night to celebrate Sunway’s pre-university graduates
“The most gratifying moment of our teaching profession is when we witness a group of young people completing their academic year after all the hard work and perseverance they put in”, said Ms Elizabeth Lee, Executive Director of Sunway University during the AUSMAT Awards Night. Three of Sunway’s Pre-University programmes commemorated the success and accomplishments of their graduating students from Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT), Foundation in Arts (FIA) and Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) recently.
