Scholarship interviews were held in July and August this year. Lawrence Abeln, the Dean of Business and Edwin Leow, Faculty of Professions - International Manager, University of Adelaide undertook the scholarship interviews at Sunway College. Abeln spoke highly of the educational relationship between Malaysia and Australia, “Over 25,000 Malaysian students study at Australian universities and the University of Adelaide very much appreciates the long standing relationship with Malaysia for educational exchange. In fact, since the Columbo plan began in 1950, more than 300,000 Malaysians have studied at Australian institutions. Both Malaysia and Australia have a strong commitment to higher education and the development of its workforce, and we hope providing students with more international opportunities to study will foster cultural understanding and more economic development in the Asia Pacific region. The University of Adelaide is proud to work closely with Sunway College to encourage this cooperation for students to study in Australia and for other forms of partnership including educational materials, conferences, study visits and scholarships.”
At the ceremony, student Ziana Fillimonova from Kazakhstan, received an iPad mini for winning the Destination Adelaide Roadshow competition. The competition saw the participation of over 400 students. Melissa Tan, representative of the University of South Australia thanked Sunway College for having them here for the roadshow in April this year and for the chance to present Ziana with her prize.

This year, Study Adelaide Education Roadshow’s in-country representatives were invited to present a talk to 80 AUSMAT students as part of the AUSMAT Career Exploration Week 2014. The event encourages the exploration of courses and career choices to pursue after completion of AUSMAT. Students are provided opportunities to visit universities and organisations to get a bigger picture and a better idea of courses and career paths available to them even before they commence their undergraduate studies.
