While their CIMP diploma provides guaranteed entry to a university of their choice, each graduate’s real success is marked by their highly developed critical thinking and problem solving skills, their ability to work collaboratively, and their confidence as strong effective communicators.
Valedictorian Lau Jun Yee, in his address sums up his experience at Sunway, “But I do hope that whichever corner of the world that we end up in after this, that we would not forget the lessons learnt here and the friendships that we have built. I pray that we look back fondly at the time we spent here. That one day if someone asks, we can proudly say that we were from that pre-university course that contrary to popular belief, is NOT the easiest. We would proudly say that we were from that one course that was 70% coursework, 30% exams and 100% awesome. We would proudly say that WE were from CIMP.”

The CIMP at Sunway has earned itself the distinction of not only being one of the largest OSSD schools in the world, but also one of the most diverse, with students coming from more than 70 countries, including Australia, Kenya, Japan, Korea, China, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, as well as Middle Eastern countries. CIMP delivers a rigorous academic programme leading to university studies along with the opportunity to grow socially and culturally through involvement in many of the extra-curricular activities offered.
This year, Sunway’s CIMP students have been actively contributing to society through various fundraising projects. Students in the Business Leadership classes through the sale of food products raised RM6,458 for the World Food Programme. And recently, in responding to the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan, CIMP lecturers and students chipped in and collected RM9,958 in cash. This together with boxes of canned food and water were donated to the Typhoon Haiyan Relief efforts in November. CIMP students had also together with other Pre-U students raised RM5,000 for the ‘Make the Difference’ charity sale organised by Puan Sri Susan Cheah, where all funds collected went to the Scholarship Programme for Underprivileged Children.
