Sunway Students are MUFY’s TOP SCORERS IN THE WORLD!

Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) at Sunway saw 422 students graduating in December 2013. In the November 2013 exams, MUFY students at Sunway College were the world’s top in 18 out of 22 MUFY subjects with 13 students qualifying for the Monash University Entrance Scholarship. Two students, Grace Ong Sing Ling and Lau Sue Een achieved the highest overall score of 96%, based on 8 subjects, out-performing students at all other MUFY programme providers worldwide. In her valedictorian speech, Grace Ong summed up her MUFY experience at Sunway, “MUFY has offered us more than just an education. It has given us a valuable and enriching experience, the love for knowledge, the passion for excellence and most importantly enlightenment, joy, sweet memories and fulfilment.”


Currently into its 14th year of delivery, MUFY at Sunway is an international programme, in terms of curriculum, recognition and enrolment with students coming from over 40 countries including Germany, Egypt, Philippines, USA, Japan, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Singapore and Indonesia. To date, close to 10,000 students have graduated from the MUFY programme at Sunway College.

With a learning environment similar to Monash University, MUFY at Sunway with their dedicated and experienced lecturers has maintained an excellent track record of students’ academic success, with students whose scores often surpass those from other MUFY providers. MUFY also has a flexible modular system of study that helps students study in a way that matches their capability and needs. The diversity of students ensures a vibrancy of learning and hence, a successful progression of MUFY graduates into degree programmes at Monash University and other universities anywhere in the world.


Like Monash University, MUFY at Sunway offers many extra-curricular activities that ensure a student’s learning is relevant to the real world. Through such immersion and efforts, students deepen their understanding of the world and are instilled with community mindedness.


Lee Thye Cheong, Director of MUFY at Sunway has this to say about the programme, “An outstanding education does not merely deliver knowledge. Much more than that, it shapes attitudes, challenges mind sets and builds attributes that ultimately transform lives. This, in fact, lies at the core of MUFY. The MUFY curriculum is designed to empower young people with the capabilities to be inquiring life-long learners, and equip them with a global vision. As a result, they have an understanding of their own identity while appreciating and respecting the identity of others. MUFY also focuses on developing students to be team players with interpersonal, entrepreneurial and critical thinking skills to succeed in undergraduate studies, and ultimately help create opportunities for a better life for all.”

MUFY at Sunway College is the largest and most established provider among all MUFY providers in Australia, China, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Malaysia.
