“Our Malaysian Chinese Independent Schools are known to nurture exemplary students who possess a strong grasp of the Mandarin language and superiority in numeracy. These students also possess leadership skills which have been nurtured through participation in various extra-curricular activities. This is one area in which I believe our Malaysian Chinese Independent Schools place great emphasis on. Here at Sunway, we too place strong emphasis on extra-curricular activities as it encourages students in developing individual unique strengths and talents” said Elizabeth Lee, Senior Executive Director, Sunway Education Group at the award ceremony.

The CIS ECA scholarships totalling more than RM700,000 are for the students to pursue studies in one of the Lancaster University validated degree programmes, the ACCA or Bachelor of Business 3+0 in collaboration with Victoria University, Australia in Sunway College. Guests for the ceremony include Professor Graeme Wilkinson, Vice-Chancellor, Sunway University; Professor Pua Eng Chong, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Sunway University; parents, representatives from the various Chinese Independent high schools and the United Chinese School Committees’ Association of Malaysia (Dong Zong) and, the heads of department for the programmes of Sunway University and Sunway College.
