Memorable Night in Celebrating Excellence

It was truly a night to remember as success lingered in the air for our Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) graduates from Sunway College, who after spending months of hard work, they ended it by having a blast at the annual AUSMAT Night. The ambience and the theme ‘Stars of AUSMAT Reign’ was indeed a perfect match.

Many awards were given out during the night in recognition of their academic achievements. These included the Best Subject Awards to acknowledge the top scoring student of each subject, Shield of Excellence for the student who not only excelled academically but contributed significantly towards program events and the most notable award was the High Academic Achievement Award for the student with the overall highest ATAR score based on the best four subjects in the WACE school-based assessments.

338 students rejoice during AUSMAT night

Sunway is known for recognising and rewarding students for their high academic achievement and extra-curricular activities. 338 students successfully completed their AUSMAT programme and were honoured for completing their foundation programme during the awards night.

Karen Toh Hui Qi received the Shield of Excellence for her high academic achievement and her invaluable contribution to programme activities. Karen was also a subject award winner for English as Additional Language/Dialect and the President of the AUSMAT Student Council. Karen said, “The AUSMAT programme is a positive transition in comparison to the SPM examinations. My participation in programme activities is not a detriment to my studies as I know my priorities.” Karen also acknowledged the lecturers for being dedicated, was grateful for a well-equipped library and stressed that there should be a good balance between studying and play.
