Canadian International Matriculation Programme at Sunway College celebrated their 50th Graduation Ceremony

“The Canadian International Matriculation Programme at Sunway College celebrated their 50th Graduation Ceremony on Friday June 17th 2016. The group of 200 graduate join over 6000 alumni from the Canadian program who have gone on to study around the globe as the programme celebrates its 25th anniversary at Sunway. CIMP Graduates go on to study and work in Malaysia and abroad with 79 of this semesters gradates planning to attend University in Canada, the United States, Europe and Australia.


Over half of the graduates achieved the honoured status of Ontario Scholar, including the 24 students who achieved an outstanding overall average of more than 90%. In addition 100 awards were presented to recognise the students who achieved exceptional academic success in specific subjects, became student leaders through extra-curricular activities, and went above and beyond in their contribution to local communities through volunteering. They also celebrated raising over RM5600 through their Business Leadership Fundraising for various charities and organizations. Student Lim Tze Sean was awarded the CIMP community service award for contributing over 500 hours to many volunteering projects during his time in the programme. The CIMP Programme Award which recognizes a student who exemplifies the characteristics of a CIMP student, excels academically, and is highly involved as a positive force in the CIMP community was awarded to Rebecca Charmaine Daniel.


The highlights of the ceremony included a performance by the CIMP choir, alumni and teachers who joined together for a rendition of Together We Are One highlighting the connections and memories made as members of the CIMP community. The CIMP Student Council and Media Club presented an entertaining lip-dub and photo slide show videos featuring performances from all CIMP staff and students. Valedictorian Bryan Chen Chi-Ern who was nominated to the esteemed position by his lecturers due to his excellent academic achievement and extra-curricular involvement and the elected by his peers gave an inspiring speech to send off the graduates to their futures and thank all those that have supported their journey through the Canadian Programme.”
