Sunway Hosts 2-Day Cambridge International Exams Training

“I am proud and honoured to be here today for as an educator myself, I understand that a student’s educational journey is a crucial period, and because of this, it is vital that as academics who are entrusted with the task of building future leaders should constantly update ourselves with the latest developments in pedagogy, to be aware of the changing emphasis within the education arena, both on the local and global front. It is hoped that through today’s training sessions you will become more confident, reflective, innovative and engaging in your classrooms. More importantly, I trust you will inspire each other to excel further in your profession,” said Dr Elizabeth Lee, Senior Executive Director of Sunway Education Group and Sunway University in her welcome address to A Level teachers.

Sunway played host to fifty five A Level teachers from various Cambridge GCE A Level Centres from Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei, Indonesia and Bangkok for the recent 2-day Cambridge International Exams Intermediate A Levels Professional Development Training Courses.


The 2-day Professional Development training for teachers of the Cambridge syllabuses Cambridge International AS and A Level Psychology, Cambridge International AS and A Level Mathematics, Cambridge International AS and A Level Art & Design and Cambridge International AS and A Level Global Perspectives were conducted by CIE trainers selected by the CIE training department in the UK. The trainers were Sushil Solomon for Mathematics, David Clarke for Psychology, Helen Humphreys for Global Perspectives and Sharon Wildsmith for Art & Design.

Participants for each syllabus attended the various breakout sessions which included an overview of different teaching methods and strategies, teaching strategies, discussions on formative and summative assessment and creating schemes of work and lesson plans, amongst others.


Ng Kim Huat, Senior Schools Development Manager, Cambridge International Examinations in his speech quoted Michael O’Sullivan, Chief Executive, Cambridge International Examinations, “Learners are at the heart of everything we do at Cambridge, and it’s vital that we prepare them well for higher education, work and life.”

CIE conducts approximately 5 Professional Development trainings per year that cover various programmes from Primary Checkpoint to A Levels.

In to perform for the US Division of Defense educational institutions, however, you must be a US qualified and qualified instructor in to be considered.
