Sunway A-Level Students Headed for Top Universities

In the November 2013 Cambridge A-Level examinations, Sunway students obtained a pass rate of 100% with 57% scoring straight As, the best ever results for the examinations since 1994. A celebratory tea gathering was hosted by Sunway College for the students before they begin their university studies.

Among those present was Ng Wai Tuck, the proud and happy father of Ng Jie Yi, who scored 4 A*s in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. Jie Yi has been offered a place in University of Cambridge to study Veterinary Medicine. Quiet and reserved, the twenty year old who loves books by J.R.R. Tolkien, will only start in Cambridge at the end of the year. “Studying A-Levels at Sunway College has been a great learning and growing experience for me. I am incredibly honoured and grateful to be taught by such experienced and dedicated lecturers who provided so much help and support”, said Jie Yi.

Vipul Agarwal, who scored 4 A*s in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Further Mathematics will also be heading to the University of Cambridge to study Chemical Engineering. The eighteen year old who originally hails from New Delhi, India, loves Maths, Chemistry and basketball. When asked about his experience at Sunway, he too commented on his lecturers, “The lecturers here are very supportive, they put in a lot of effort and time to ensure that we were all prepared for our examinations.”

The Cambridge GCE A-Level Programme is one of the pre-university programmes offered at Sunway College for more than two decades. Sunway College is one of only three centres nationwide to be accorded the elite status of a Fellowship Centre. This status is accorded to a centre that provides a superior delivery system that produces excellent results in the biannual examinations.

For the past twenty over years, Sunway A-Level students have successfully gained admission into many world-class universities such as Cambridge, Oxford, the London School of Economics, Imperial University College London, Harvard, MIT, NUS, NTU, the University of Hong Kong, the University of Melbourne and the Australian National University to name a few.
