Bound for Ivy league and top universities

After much perseverance and work, a group of 10 students who scored straight As after sitting the November 2011 A-Level examinations were invited to a tea gathering hosted by Sunway College recently before they began their university studies overseas. Joined by a few others at the tea, most of the 10 said they were grateful to the helpful lecturers in the A-Level programme and proud to be in this group.

8th graduation for Sunway home-grown foundation programme

Sunway College’s home-grown Foundation in Arts (FIA) programme recently celebrated the graduation of their 8th batch of students who were about to step forward in pursuit of their dreams. The ceremony witnessed 129 students graduating in the presence of Professor Robert Bignall; Vice-Chancellor of Sunway University, Professor Pua Eng Chong, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Sunway University; Professor David Ngo Chek Ling Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Higher Degrees), Sunway University; Dr. Khatijah Khalid, Chief Executive of Sunway College; Cheng Mien Wee, Director of Pre-University Studies; Mrs Ruma Lopes, Director of the FIA Programme, Sunway College, as well as lecturers, parents and students.

Up-to-date IT Labs

Your learning does not have to bogged down when it comes to using PCs in Sunway’s newly-renovated IT Learning Labs, which offer the latest PC’s (average PC age not more than 20 months old) in a more contemporary and comfortable environment.


Students can stay on top of their assignments on any of the 12 PCs linked to a multifunctional Fuji Xerox printer to easily navigate to print, scan or copy. Other PCs in the labs continue to be available for students to use for assignments and daily learning. A virtual desktop with all the latest software comes with every PC start-up.


Each IT learning lab is equipped with smart boards. This gives you a more interactive classroom session between lecturers and you, ensuring that learning is fun, relevant and real. The smart boards have short-throw projectors for clearer viewing. A more accessible disabled-friendly PC is also available. All of this is part of Sunway’s efforts to provide the best and latest technologies for hassle-free use that can support your academic success.

Sunway A-Level high achievers garner scholarship to University of Auckland

Sunway College’s Cambridge Advanced Level Programme (A-Level) students are slowly starting to see their dreams turn into a reality as they continue to gleam with achievement. Stephenas Teh Wee Seng and Teh Shin Yee are not only high achievers but have received scholarships to pursue their degree in University of Auckland, New Zealand.

Stephenas clinched the “Top in the World” Award for Accounting at AS Level during the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards recently. The Sunway Cambridge Advanced Level Programme (A-Level) student who is also a Petronas scholar scored 4 A* in Math, Accounting, Economics and Law after sitting for his A-Level examinations last year. Classmate, Teh Shin Yee, who scored 1 A* for Accounting and 2 A for Math and Economics garnered The Dean’s Asia Scholarship worth $26,040 at the University of Auckland Business School.

Sunway’s AUSMAT students ahead of the game

20 Australian Matriculation Programme (AUSMAT) students achieved an ATAR of 99 and above while 147 students achieved an ATAR of 90 and above in the 2011 AUSMAT WACE examinations recently from a cohort of 400 odd students. The students produced astounding results that reflects the quality of the Sunway AUSMAT programme and the dedication and commitment of the teachers in educating the students. In addition to that, 8 Sunway students received the special certificate of distinction award for five subjects out of a total of thirteen subject awards. The students were recognised for appearing within the top 0.5 per cent of those sitting in the WACE examination in the world.

Zhang Wei Ng and Say Ting Toon were highest in Accounting and Finance while Radhika Divya Chelliah in Career and Enterprise. The English masters, Jun Hwang Chan and Pauline Lim Wen Jun were top in English while Nicholas Keevan Rajah and Uhendran Subpramaniam aced the WACE examinations in English as an Additional Language & Dialect leaving Alliyza Esther Qin Shi Lim to top Psychology.

A Harvard Collection in Sunway Campus

The Tun Hussein Onn Library (THOL), one of the largest private academic libraries in Malaysia located within Sunway Campus, saw the launch of a new collection titled, “A Harvard Collection”. This collection gives prominence to a distinct research collection that is aimed to support the teaching and research needs of the academic institution.

Sunway’s AUSMAT continue to produce quality graduates

Sunway College’s Australian Matriculation Programme (AUSMAT) 2011 students recently graduated in a ceremony themed “And the stars go marching on” at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa.

Katryne Chia Phei Shan and Ooi Sze Hong received three Best Academic Achievement Awards (BAAA) for emerging top scorer for three subjects. Katryne was top scorer for 3 subjects; Chemistry, Physics, and Politics and Law and Ooi for Maths Specialist, Accounting and Finance and Economics. Lim Choon Chung and Joel Justin Anak George both received two BAAA for being the top scorers in Accounting and Finance and Chemistry and Maths 3A3B and Psychology respectively. 13 BAAA were given out in total during the graduation ceremony.

The Sunway AUSMAT graduates will continue to shine in pursuit of their dreams.
