Students Wins Scholarships to Sunway College Accountancy programmes

12 deserving students were awarded scholarships worth RM278,000 and cash prizes valued at RM5700 at the recent annual MIA-Sunway TES Accounting Quiz (AQ) 2016 held at Sunway College.

For this year’s MIA-Sunway TES AQ, team ACCA Eliza from SMK Saint Elizabeth, Sarawak emerged Champion under the Team Category. The team comprised of Aserah Anak Jawi, Cynthia Ling Zhen Yee and Ling Yii Fei, each won a scholarship worth RM50,000 for studies in accountancy programmes offered at Sunway College. The team also took home RM2,100 cash prize.

Sunway TES CAE Collaborates with JPP and ACCA to Further Build Malaysia’s Accountancy Talent Pool

Sunway TES Centre for Accountancy Excellence (CAE) in a move to further promote professional accounting programmes towards building Malaysia’s accountancy talent pool today aligned itself with a new initiative. This initiative is to better Malaysia’s Polytechnic syllabi of the 3-year Diploma in Accountancy programme, ensuring its standards are up to par with the international standards of the professional accountancy certification. The initiative is supported by Performance Management and Delivery Unit (PEMANDU) and Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputra (YPPB).

Today, the initiative was sealed with the exchanging of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Dr Lee Weng Keng, CEO, Education and Healthcare Division, Sunway Group and Tuan Haji Mohd Ghaus Ab Kadir, Deputy Director General, Department of Polytechnic Education, Ministry of Higher Education.

ACCA - Audit Simulation Training

Sunway TES Centre for Accountancy Excellence conducted a 5-day Audit Simulation Training for ACCA students from 14th to 18th December 2015.

This is the first and only real-world audit experience embedded within classroom education in Malaysia. It’s practical audit training that incorporated 30 students of Audit & Assurance (F8 subject) were nominated to participate in this training. A professional consultant were invited to impart an Audit Trial practice through a one-day Audit Simulation Workshop on 14th Dec to the students. On the 2nd to 4th day, students commenced their audit work based the knowledge acquired through the theory studies of F8 subject as well as the Audit Trial Workshop.

On the last day, 18th Dec, Audit Directors and Managers of Big 5 firms included BDO, DELOITTE, EY, KPMG and PwC, were scheduled to meet with students to review their audit working papers to conclude the training on participating this Audit Simulation Training, the 30 students were given opportunity to secure pre-employment where they would be receiving job offer upon completion their ACCA studies.

Bringing technology to a needy school

A group of students currently pursuing their ACCA and CAT at Sunway College, showed that they cared. They helped to transport 15 personal computers from Sunway Education Group and set up the computer laboratory at SRJK Ulu Yam Baharu.

This was part of the students’ community enrichment project under their Moral Studies class to reach out to the less–privileged communities. The computers were donated by Sunway Education Group.

Sunway-TES, University of Malaya and ACCA sign agreement First in the world innovative programme for outstanding accounting students

Kuala Lumpur – Sunway-TES, a subsidiary of Sunway Education Group, University of Malaya (UM) and ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) have collaborated in a milestone agreement that provides students reading the Bachelor of Accounting programme at UM with the opportunity to attain an ACCA Qualification through a unique fast-track programme.

See Ju Vin wins 2nd place in BIC Campus Speed Writing Competition

See Ju Vin, who represented Sunway College in the BIC Campus Speed Writing Competition won 2nd place and took away RM 300 cash prize, product hamper worth RM 50 and a certificate of participation. See, a Sunway-TES student who is currently completing her 4th semester in ACCA completed the challenge in 2:11 minutes.
