A noble act from Sunway CIMP students

Sunway’s Canadian International Matriculation Programme (CIMP) students exercised their management skills through a one day charitable fundraiser as part of the requirement of their Business Leadership Management Fundamentals (BLMF) subject. 55 students used their management knowledge to create a company and sold unique products during a sale at the Energy Hub at Sunway College recently.

RM 3221.50 was raised and donated to the Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation (KDSF) with the aim of helping children between 2 months to 6 years of age with Down Syndrome to achieve their maximum potential using a holistic teaching approach.

Lee Siaw Teng, a BLMF student said, “We believe the project was a success as it provided the class with the experience of managing a business by putting our management theory into practice. Throughout the project, the experience we gained helped us become better entrepreneurs especially in managing our own businesses. When we were first assigned to the project, most of us were clueless. But when we applied the management concepts we learnt in class, it became easier for us to work everything out.”

Godfrey Rajalingam, Chairman of KDSF and Angie Heng, Administrative Director of KDSF were present during the cheque presentation ceremony. “We are grateful for the contributions and initiative made by the Sunway CIMP students. The funds will be extremely useful and we thank you for your contribution,” said Godfrey.

The students were thrilled to demonstrate their social responsibility and contribute to KDSF’s effort.
