An ecstatic Pey Ling said that this is the highest achievement she has ever accomplished and feels grateful for the guidance from her lecturers. Pey Ling always prepared for class in advance so that she could get a better grasp of what would be discussed. She also stressed the importance of time management. “I planned my timetable well by prioritizing tasks and completing them on time. I also had a checklist which I followed strictly and I tried to complete daily assignments on the day itself without procrastination,” she shared.

Throughout her experience of studying MUFY in Sunway, Pey Ling also found the notes and hand-outs prepared by her lecturers very helpful. She said they were short and sweet, easy to read and provided all the details she needed. At the same time, she participated in group discussions with friends, and exchanged homework to spot errors and gain fresh insights. She also stressed that she received support from her family which provided an excellent environment that allowed her to focus on learning.

It also encourages students to investigate, question and discover through assessments such as research projects, reflective essays and report writing that are integrated into their coursework. “The MUFY program gives us the opportunity to develop basic research skills and communication skills which are crucial in our university life,” she said.

Valedictorian Samuel Sii represented the graduating class in extending his sincere appreciation to all the lecturers who were dedicated, passionate and caring towards them. He recalled how they went beyond their call of duty and were always willing to go the extra mile to make sure their potential was fully realized. He ended his speech by saying “I cannot be more assured that each of us will accomplish great things, in our own little ways, given that we always give our best in everything we do.”

Lee Thye Cheong commended the 305 graduating students who he felt demonstrated will, spirit and commitment to making their community a better place. “Activities such as the MUFY “SHARITY” Carnival, Run for Education and tree-planting projects are platforms where students learn to become community-minded citizens, think creatively, demonstrate respect and compassion for others and develop enterprise skills as well as the ability to engage in teamwork”, he added.
